The Nokia 770 was a device before its time! The fact that it ran a version of Debian really impressed me, and the functionality of the device was impressive, considering it was released years before the iPhone or the Droid x!

What most people found odd about the N770, though, was that it isn't a cellphone. If Nokia misjudged anything, it was that maybe they thought the cellular industry would be superseded by Wireless.

The Droid X is a new cellphone from Motorola which runs on the Google Android operating system.

It competes with the Apple iPhone and the Research In Motion Blackberry series.

Driod X Android

The current version of Android that my Droid X is running is disappointing, in my humble opinion. It sometimes needs a reboot before it can find GPS satellites, other times it reboots at random - on its own.

Droid X 3G Mobile Hotspot

The mobile hotspot offered by the Driod X on the Verizon Wireless network is one of my favorite features. Even when riding the subway, I can get decent connectivity.

3G over bluetooth? I heard today that it is possible to access the internet using bluetooth with the droid x - how cool would that be? Alas, I don't have bluetooth on my eee pc 900HA. I think I will install debian on one of my Mac minis tonight and see how that goes - I'm pretty sure they have bluetooth. I'll have to upgrade the firmware first to gain BIOS compatibility mode.

Some people are concerned about the radio waves that are emitted by cellular phones, and fear they may cause cancer or other health problems.

The correlation has not been scientifically proven though.

Still, some people use speaker phone or headsets to keep the radio transmitter further away from their head.

I've been using them for over five years and while at times I find their marketing and policies a bit absurd, the service has been rock solid in my experience.
