Verizon Wireless just sent me an email confirming a change I recently made to my account:
"Thank you for your continued loyalty to Verizon Wireless, the nation's most reliable wireless network. This e-mail confirms a change made to your wireless service for phone number (xxx) xxx-xxxx on 10/22/2009. Important details concerning your wireless service are available in the Message Center, located in My Verizon. For your convenience, log into My Verizon by clicking on the link located in the bottom right corner of this e-mail under Manage Your Account. Thank you for selecting Verizon Wireless. If you are not the intended recipient and feel you have received this email in error, please click here to notify us."
The email also said there was a document outlining changes to my account online in the "Secure Message Center". I logged into my account and noticed the features document they were referring to, and I also noticed the "Customer Proprietary Network Information Notice".
I downloaded it and it is a privacy policy. It suggests an opt-out option they say is available online and I would like to opt-out, but I can't find anything referring to it online. I guess I'll have to call 1-800-922-0204 to talk to someone about it.
As much as I love the technology involved with telephones and telecommunications, I'm not in love with customer support telephone service.
