My friend Jeremy told me about his new phone - the brand new Blackberry pearl - and it sounds incredible. The Blackberry Storm with its iPhone-like touchscreen has stolen much of the thunder (no pun intended) from the quite admirable pearl, but I don't think it deserves it.
What I really like about the new pearl is that it can use Wi-fi to make calls. This is awesome because sometimes there is a better internet wifi signal than there is cell phone reception. I've wondered if cell phone companies would ever start doing this, and thought they would hold off, as it sort of cuts into their own revenue stream. T-Mobile works around this by charging minutes for wi-fi calls. That seems a little lame, but in the end, if it is useful, it is worth it.
I haven't seen the phone yet, but I hope to see it soon. I'm sure it looks just as cool as the other Blackberries.
