At my aunt's birthday party last night, our table discussed the emerging cable battle between coax cable providers like Comcast, and telecom companies rolling out fiber optics, like Verizon Communications.
A question came up: "Which company is bigger by market capitalization?"
As of March 25, 2007:
VZ has about a $100 billion market cap
CMCSA has about a $80 billion market cap
My guess is that Verizon will get approval for state-side cable franchises, rather than having to go from town to town like Comcast did.
