Currently my VOIP setup has two Soundpoint 301 phones. They've worked really well with my Asterisk PBX, and the phones themselves are terrific. I'm shopping around for a couple more Polycom phones and just noticed they came out with some new models like the 650. Since I don't think they've available yet, and to stay consistent with what I have, I'm going for the x01 series.
I'm trying to decide between the 501 and the 601. The 601 has 6 lines and is expandible whereas the 501 only has 3 lines, but its about $70 less expensive from what I can tell. Either way, I am going to go with the 501 or 601, as they both have two-way speakerphone capabilities, whereas the 301 only has speakerphone capability for listening. That is still very useful: think being on hold, listening to music.
I think I'm going to go with the 501. If I need more lines I can use a conferencing service, and I'll get two with the money I save by not getting the 601. Two 501's are still more expensive than one 601 though.
Oh yeah I'm also going to get a GN headset this time instead of a Plantronics. Specifically the GN Netcom 2120 headset, " GN 2120 Monaural Over-the-Head Noise-canceling Headset with Flex Boom". It costs $99.95 at PC Connection so its a few dollars cheaper than the Plantronics one and will be good to compare the two.
