!VOIP:
723 (really low bandwidth) or 729 is the only way to go, and unfortunately right now there is no Mac softphone that supports it.
Can't seem to find any affordable land line phones that support contact info from ldap or otherwise. ANNOYING!
Can't get HandyTone 488 to register with Asterisk on my LAN. (Might be caused by Airport?) I'm assuming this to be true.
Turning off registration allows it to work OK. Calls go out OK, and PSTN calls in to FXO are routed to FXS. Problem is though that incoming calls are not noticed by Asterisk at all, ie FXO is not connecting with asterisk. This is a problem. I've tried a bunch of stuff that didn't work, including using the 488 as a router. However it appears that it will not connect to a SIP server through the LAN client, which sort of makes sense.
Anyway, back to the FXO port, I tried registering it as a client to Asterisk with no avail. I feel like it is caused by the same problem with the Airport that prevented the XLite to get incoming calls through to Asterisk. Maybe, maybe not. !HandyTone notes:
Only connects to SIP server on WAN port
Doesn't want to work when SIP registration is on, and registration fails!Steps to take:
Use Intel 100 card from houdini to make g4 or g5 a router - share NAT with HandyTone
Setup handytone to look for server at 192.168.1.1
